Ride
Segments
Segments is an experiment in framing, a way of leaning into the uncertainty that soundscapes already embody. Based on analysis and resynthesis, it sits at the threshold between ecological listening and aesthetic intervention, between determinacy and chance. Segments introduces an extra layer of sound synthesis, the concept of Semantic Vector Synthesis, a novel way to create musical compositions based on the meaning of sounds. Segments generates up to eight seperate track bounces ready for download.

Playback Modes Examples
- Cellular-Repeat:Segments repeat in a 1-D cellular automaton: For every bar a segment is either kept, muted or replaced by its spectral neighbour. In Advanced Setting adjust Cells, Rules, Seed.
- Tidal Rhythm: Sorts segments by duration, assigns start times within a cycle (default 10 seconds) and applies randomization to introduce variability.
- Euclidean: Arrange segments based on Eyclidean algorithm. In Advanced Setting adjust Steps, Pulses and Rotation.
- Quantum: Introduces a quantum-inspired behavior for ordering audio segments, simulating the concept of a quantum wave function and its collapse upon measurement. Unlike deterministic modes like "low→high" (sorting by frequency) or "random" (uniform shuffling), the "quantum" mode balances structure (favoring high-intensity segments) with randomness (probabilistic selection).
- Narrative Journey: Order like: Start with natural sounds, build tension with Man-made intrusions, climax in hybrids, resolve in harmony. In Advanced Setting adjust Narrative Balance between Human-made and Natural segments.
Multiple Renders
- Segments spread up to eight (8) different render files.
- Each 'virtual output' (1-8) is filled with segments based on user defined criteria like segment duration, frequency, intensity (RMS), label, category.
- Multiple Renders, is the result between the combination of the current Playback Mode and criteria set by user in this section.
- Custom mode, offers a deeper and more flexible access to the generation of segments per channel output.
Reverb
- A convolution reverb engine, based on a high-quality Impulse Response.
- Add reverb only on "Biophony" segments.
- Add reverb only on "Anthropophony" segments.
- By label – Reverb is applied only when the segment label matches (case-insensitive).

How to Use
- BEST METHOD: Start from the Number of Tracks Node (first Node on your right - see Tooltip) and follow the Nodes of the mandala down in series until you reach the Process Audio Node. Adjust settings as you go.
- Set MAX BLEND around 80%. A basic feature of the app.
- Set Loop Time around ONE minute to render quicker (Default 5 minutes).
- Check Loop on each track before Process Audio.
Settings
- Number of Tracks (2–10): Sets how many audio files to upload or record. Default: 5.
- Project BPM (60–240): Sets the project tempo for alignment (affects visualization, not playback).
- Max Blend (0–100%): Controls track overlap intensity.
- Wet/Dry Mix (0–100%): Balances reverb and original audio.
- Reverb Time (0.1–5s): Sets reverb decay length.
- Loop Duration (0.1–10 min): Defines the output mix duration.
- Algorithm: Chooses track ordering (e.g., Sequential, Random, Markov Chain, Scale-based, Frequency-based, Tempo-based).
- Musical Scale: Filters tracks by scale (e.g., Major, Minor, Pentatonic and many more exotic scales).
- Scale Behavior: Defines scale application (Filter, Transpose, Reorder).
- Playback Rate (0.5–2x): Adjusts playback speed.
- Preserve Pitch: Maintains pitch when changing playback rate (checked by default).
- Silence Percentage (0–100%): Adds silence between tracks.
Processing Audio
- Access: Click the Process Audio node (pink, labeled "Process Audio").
- Action: Combines uploaded or recorded tracks based on parameters (e.g., reverb, playback rate, algorithm). The process uses the Web Audio API to mix tracks offline.
- Status: Shows "Processing audio..." during processing and "Audio processed successfully" when complete. The audio player and waveform display appear automatically.
- Note: Ensure all required tracks are uploaded or recorded, or the status display will show an error.

Getting Started
Sound Hunt uses your device's GPS and audio capabilities to help you find hidden sounds in your environment. Follow these steps to begin:
- Tap "Start Tracking" to enable GPS and audio playback.
- Select a target from the "Select Target" section to begin hunting for a specific sound.
- Use the compass to navigate toward the target. The arrow points in the direction of the sound.
- Listen for beeps that get faster as you get closer to the target (within 30 meters).
- When you're within 5 meters, the sound will play continuously, and the target will be marked as found.

- Controls: Enable/disable compass, toggle sound on/off or reset the app.

A responsive phase modulation synthesizer focused on physical interaction.
